Energy Innovations |
|
From Green Building practices to energy efficiency lighting fixtures, homeowners can now equip their homes with a wide variety of devices and control units that lower consumption of electricity, heating fuels, and water.
In addition to the more familiar choices there is a constant stream of innovative techniques and devices to improve upon this picture. |
Tesla Powerwall
The Powerwall is a lithium battery system for home use that stores electrical energy for use during an emergency. The unit detects a power loss, disconnects from the grid and automatically restores power to your home, assuring that an installed solar system will continue to operate. LG Chem and others also have similar products.

Solar Ink
Solar ink can be printed onto surfaces and acts in a similar fashion to solar PV panels. Limited only by the need for rare metals (idium), the potential applications are broad-based and production is scalable once mass-printing presses are refined. This technique appears to be a sustainable technology. Australian developers, VICOSC and CSIRO are leaders in this field.
